Getting to Vang Vieng
By road, there are buses available from various points in Vientiane and Luang Prabang that depart to Vang Vieng (160km and 180km respectively). A local bus will cost approx USD2-4 and air-conditioned minibuses will cost around USD4-8. Upon arrival, buses will drop you off at an older runway, which serves as the bus station. From here it\'s a 5 minute walk across the tarmac to town - in other words, ignore the touts and cyclo drivers offering to take you into town.
Getting around Vang Vieng
As for getting around town, tuk-tuks are readily available but as you can walk across town in 5 minutes, walking is the most common mode of transport. Mopeds, motorbikes and bicycles are all available for hire in the town.
