We enjoyed our stay at The Elephant Crossing very much. The location was fabulous - right on the river, with clean rooms and a very helpful staff. We like it that they hire local people as staff for their guesthouse.

Room was ok; the balcony overlooked the river which was great. The food especially the dinner was excellent. The location and the atmosphere was great. Unfortunately we could only eat one evening there; the second evening there was a large group and the kitchen staff could not serve more people.

The hotel is in the most lovely setting with a view to die for. The garden is delightful and bar restaurant area very pleasant. However we were disappointed with the standard of the room and particularly with the bathroom which was in urgent need of refurbishment.
My husband gave in a bag of laundry on the evening we arrived and he was assured it would be ready in 24 hours as we would be leaving the following morning. When we collected it, it had not been washed and no explanation or apology was forthcming. We felt this reflected badly on the off hand way that the hotel appears to be managed and the care they take of their guests.
Also we booked a "VIP" bus through the hotel - no way was it anything like the "VIP" bus we travelled on to Vang Vieng. It was also more expensive.

The rooms at the corner can really be recommendead as they give your more view. The overall impression was very nice. A bit disturbing was the manufacture work in some rooms during the day; somtimes starting at 8:15 am with big noise; not sure why this has to be done in the main season in December.

The Hotel and it's location are great. But unfortunately the assistance in booking tours and tickets was somewhat erratic or even unreliable.

The hotel environment was great especially the river and mountain view from the hotel. Breakfast was o.k but it would be ideal if they also serve the local noodle soup too. However, dinner was very good and we enjoyed the romantic candle light dinner there.Since Vang Vieng offer lots of activities that involve with water, the hotel should consider to provide hair dryer in each room...
