These two days of trekking and caving take us across the 1500 m high ridge of Vang Vieng to remote places that even locals don't know about, before kayaking back to Vang Vieng along the scenic Nam Song River.

Itinerary

Please note the overnight accommodation and starting point of the second day's kayaking can change depending upon water levels.

Day 1: After a transfer, the trek starts from the village of Phathao some 12 km north of Vang Vieng. After reaching the mountain range, a climb leads to heights with spectacular panoramic views. Near the top of the ridge lies the Tham Hok Cave. It contains some of the most impressive stalactites and stalagmites to be found in Vang Vieng. After the descent down the far side of the mountain, our 'Secret Eden' is reached. There is time for a swim in cool pools nearby rapids. The final leg of the loop passes through an unusual Palm forest. We then arrive at Pathang Resort for the night.

Approximately: 15 minutes transfer/ 6 hours trekking

Day 2: After breakfast, a songthaew transfers us to the starting point of kayaking on the Nam Song. The Nam Song proves exciting but manageable for most guests. For anyone having difficulties, an experienced guide will be on call. There are stops at Tham Nam Thaem and Tham None along the way. Both caves are filled with water and are traversed swimming. Paddling the last leg brings you back to Ban Sabai Riverside Bungalows just on time to enjoy the sunset.

For cancellations received with more than 7 days notice, a full refund shall be issued. For cancellations with 7 days or less notice, no refund can be given.

Please note that this tour is open to others to join in with you. The price decreases with the more people that go on the same tour (up to a maximum of 18 people). Should more people join your tour after you have paid, the appropriate discount shall be applied.

What to bring: Hat, sun-screen, clothes to get wet, firm but light shoes to get wet, mosquito repellent, torch, change of clothes for the evening, sarong for bathing.

What is included: English speaking guide; entrance fees; water, 4 meals, accommodation and transport.
